Informed

Philosophy

We believe strongly in patient education regarding kidney function, disease process, diet, and modality choices.  This allows informed decision making by patients and active participation in their own health care.  Our goal is to achieve a working partnership between care providers and the patients to optimize health and quality of life.

Who We Are

  • A Renal Dialysis Unit was established in 1969 at the Henry County Health Center.  A community fund drive to help a local teenage boy who required hemodialysis treatments brought the therapy to the area.  From that effort, the renal dialysis unit grew from serving one patient to serving almost 200 patients from Southeast Iowa, Northern Missouri, and Western Illinois.

In response to this growth, Southeastern Renal Dialysis began as a corporation in April of 1997.  The corporation consists of Henry County Health Center, Great River Health Systems, Fort Madison Community Hospital, and Jefferson County Health Center.

What We Do

  • The care of each dialysis patient at Southeastern Renal Dialysis is individually planned and developed using the "total team" concept.  The Unit's staff have specialized training in the care and treatment of renal dialysis patients with nationally certified nurses and technicians.

    Our individualized program includes:

    • Incenter Hemodialysis
    • Home Therapy - Peritoneal Dialysis and Home Hemodialysis
    • 24-hour nursing coverage

    For the patient's comfort:

    • Comfortable recliners
    • Individualized televisions at each station
    • Facilities are spacious and bright
    • Ample free parking
    • Handicapped accessible
    • Comfortable waiting rooms
